  • I currently live in New Mexico, but California holds many of my core memories. I spent part of my childhood in New Mexico, but I grew up across places such as Turlock, Redding, Crescent City, and Los Angeles… basically the whole coast of California! Those experiences shaped who I am, and no matter where I live, I will always be a Californian at heart.

    I was born in Guiyang, China, and that beginning is an important part of my story. Being born in one country and raised in another, while navigating between the Deaf and the Hearing worlds, has shaped how I understand identity and belonging. My life has always stretched across places and cultures, which has given me a deep appreciation for language, connection, and the many ways we find home. It has also taught me resilience. Beginnings matter, and so does the journey that follows.

  • I’m an elementary Deaf Education teacher during the day. Outside of school, I’m more of a homebody who loves to read and take care of my cats and plants.

  • This always surprises people, but my favorite book is A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens. I’m drawn to its complicated characters, deep symbolism, and powerful plot twists. It is the kind of story that rewards careful readers and reveals something new each time. Dare I say it might be the most romantic book ever, not in a fairytale way, but in its portrayal of sacrifice and quiet, unwavering love.

    I am an avid reader and rarely go to bed without reading at least a few chapters. In 2025, I read 260 books. This year, I am aiming for 365. Lately, I have been rereading some of my favorites along with discovering new ones, balancing comfort reads with fresh stories.
